About

Luxury Stay Asia is an independent review platform focused on luxury hotels across Asia, evaluated with clarity rather than hype.

We believe a luxury hotel should be judged by how well it supports rest, comfort, and consistency — not by marketing language or social media appeal. Our reviews focus on what meaningfully shapes the stay: room quality, calm, service reliability, location practicality, and value for price.

Luxury Stay Asia exists to help travelers make clear, confident decisions about where to stay.

What We Do

We publish first-hand reviews and comparisons of luxury hotels across North Asia and Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Japan, Korea, and key cities throughout the region.

Each hotel is reviewed using a consistent framework designed to balance structure with judgment. Rather than listing features or repeating promotional claims, we assess how the hotel performs in real-world use — from check-in to checkout.

Our aim is not to recommend every hotel, but to explain which hotels make sense for which travelers.

How We Review Hotels

Luxury Stay Asia remains independent by design. Trust is the foundation of every review.

  • All reviews are based on actual stays
  • We do not accept paid placements in exchange for positive coverage
  • Complimentary stays, when applicable, do not influence scoring or conclusions
  • Commercial relationships, including affiliate links, do not determine ratings

Luxury should feel considered, not performative.
A hotel should reduce friction, not create it.
And good reviews should clarify decisions, not complicate them.

That is the standard behind Luxury Stay Asia.

Scorecard Methodology

Luxury Stay Asia evaluates hotels using a consistent framework designed to balance structure with judgment. The goal of the Luxury Stay Scorecard is not to quantify every aspect of a hotel, but to assess the elements that most meaningfully shape the experience of staying there.

Each category reflects how a hotel performs in real-world use, based on first-hand stays, rather than marketing claims or listed amenities.

Room Quality

Room Quality assesses the comfort, functionality, and overall usability of the guest room. This includes factors such as bed comfort, sound insulation, room layout, bathroom design, lighting, workspace practicality, and the overall sense of space.

Because the room is where guests spend the majority of their time, this category carries the greatest importance. A luxury hotel should provide a room that feels comfortable, quiet, and well considered, regardless of brand or price point.

Calm and Comfort

Calm & Comfort measures how restful the stay feels in practice. This includes noise levels, privacy, crowding, and the flow of both private and shared spaces.

Rather than focusing on atmosphere or design alone, this category evaluates whether the hotel allows guests to genuinely rest and disconnect. A high score reflects a hotel that reduces friction and distraction, even in busy urban environments.

Service Consistency

Service Consistency focuses on reliability rather than friendliness. It considers check-in and check-out efficiency, housekeeping standards, responsiveness to requests, and how smoothly issues are handled when they arise.

Luxury Stay Asia prioritizes predictability and execution over theatrical service. A consistently delivered experience often matters more than moments of exceptional hospitality that are not reliably repeated.

Location Practicality

Location Practicality evaluates how well the hotel functions within its surroundings. This includes ease of access, transport connectivity, walkability, and suitability for different types of travel, such as business trips, leisure stays, or staycations.

Rather than rating locations as simply “central” or “convenient,” this category considers how the location supports the purpose of the stay.

Value for Price

Value for Price assesses whether the overall experience feels fair relative to the rate paid, especially when compared with similar hotels in the same city or category.

This category reflects not just pricing, but what is delivered at that price point. A hotel may perform well in other areas but still score lower on value if its rates consistently exceed what the experience justifies.

How Scores are Used

Scores are presented using a simple scale to provide structure and comparison, but they are never intended to stand alone. Each score is supported by written context, observations, and a clear Best for / Not for assessment.

The Luxury Stay Scorecard is designed to clarify decision-making, not to suggest artificial precision. All evaluations are based on first-hand stays. Complimentary stays, when applicable, do not influence scoring or conclusions. Commercial relationships, including affiliate links, do not affect ratings.

Luxury Stay Asia remains independent by design, with the scorecard serving as a guide — not a formula.

About the Author

Luxury Stay Asia is written by a traveler based in Singapore who regularly stays in hotels across Asia for both business and leisure, including frequent short trips and local staycations.

This dual perspective shapes how hotels are reviewed. Business travel highlights the importance of quiet rooms, functional workspaces, reliable service, and efficient locations, while leisure and staycation stays bring focus to comfort, design coherence, and the overall ease of the experience.

Reviews are grounded in how hotels perform across different use cases — overnight work trips, longer leisure stays, and city staycations — rather than in promotional narratives or one-off impressions.

Luxury Stay Asia is intentionally personal in authorship and independent in judgment, with each review reflecting direct experience and considered evaluation.
